מְהָרְסַיִךְ וּמַחֲרִיבַיִךְ, מִמֵּךְ יֵצֵאוּ. - thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth from thee. (Yeshayahu 49:17)
Your comment is very sad, David. It is generally agreed that prophesy ended shortly after our ancestors returned from Babylonian exile. Can Isaiah's prophecy be applied to contemporary Jews who experienced the Holocaust of European Jewry?
I don't understand why anyone on this comment site has a PROBLEM with this pasuk? Do you live in E'Y? Among the Jews in our Holy Land, we have those who consider themselves "Left wing", who are Pro-Palestinian, anti-Religious, anti-anything to do with Judaism, who report on the State of Israel for any stupid thing that it does in the scope of PROTECTING Am Yisrael. Their desire is to give away - to the Palestinians [and anyone else who claims that Eretz Yisrael belongs to them] whatever piece of land they claim, desire, etc. They wish to give 1/2 of Yerushalayim to the PA, so that it can be the capital of Palestine! ARE YOU ALL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL? Such Jews are NOT EXCLUSIVE to ISRAEL, they live among YOU in the USA, in the EU, the UK, S. America, S. Africa, Australia, etc., etc., etc. Did you not hear about J-Street? For Heaven's Sake: wake up and smell the coffee... because Yishayahu's nevu'ah was "prophetic", especially for the End of Days... if you do not see it, then you are either blind, ignorant or closing your eyes to the reality on the ground! IF NOT for those dedicated "Right-wing" lovers of Tziyon, lovers of Am Yisrael v'Eretz Yisrael HaShelaimah, who fight and risk their lives, daily, whether it's in the IDF or in the Knesset, or in Yehudah v'Shomron, or any place else in OUR HOME LAND, to secure E"Y, to make sure not one inch is given away - chas v'chalilah, Eretz Yisrael would no longer be in our hands! However, I truly believe, as I live in E"Y, and I see and hear, daily, of nissim v'nifla'ot, that are done openly - not hidden - by HKB"H - especially in the south, with all the constant & continuous bombardment of rockets, etc. from Gaza - that with all the tremendous energy & effort put forth by the Left-wing Jews here & overseas and all the PA false propaganda about their "ownership" of E"Y, HKB"H would NEVER, EVER, let anything happen to us. If it should come to "that", then it means that Mashi'ach has arrived! So, please, stop calling each other names and "get real"! There is, and has always been, "self hating" Jews within the TRIBE! ReplyDeleteI used the verse as a play on words. In fact it is a hopeful comment where Isaiah is prophesying that the destroyers will leave the community.
