However today we rely on Hashem and his Torah and therefore in consequence is NOT what the Rambam was talking about. Which way doubt travels...do we doubt our eyes, revise the theory or give chazal a non literal interpretation cannot be decided except one case at a time, depending on the particular circumstances.
